Yellow to White – Day 28 of 30

Yellow

The color of the teeth
Of the man who has been hiding
In the forest, in the woods
Not sure why he sought that refuge
What made him turn and run

Was it his picture on the billboard
Or his image on the news
When they found the dead girl’s body
When they announced the grim discovery
A lifeless body found in the lake
That he, the father, was the prime suspect

Not seen for more than ten years
Found sleeping in a cave
Clothes tattered and torn
Hair, wild and crazed, like that of a savage beast

Then he sat before the judge
The trial proclaimed his guilt
He murdered his young daughter and ran into the woods

White – the color of his skin when the noose finally tightened
